2013 Honda Civic
Why does the Honda Civic continue to be the #1 car in Canada?
Honda's latest generation of the Civic was a quick re-do of the brand new 2012 Civic. A short 19 months of planning went into the 2013 model year look. But don't be fooled by the short time span, Honda engineers outdid themselves on the final outcome.
The styling is sleek and sexy, a much more grown up feel. This look will surely please the adult in us as well as the child in us that want everyone to sit up and take notice of our fantastic car. The chrome accents were added and the newest alloy rims are very eye-catching. The head and tail lights have taken on a more mature appearance as well as the upgrade to the front grill and hood making the car more in line with the look of larger luxury cars. The spoiler is a nice addition, being just barely there but generally adding to the appeal and shape of the vehicle. Overall, the look is more streamlined, sporty, and yet aggressive - a definitely different appearance than all the other cars in its class.
The best, for some folks, upgrade to the latest Civic was the improved sound dampening. The doors close with an audible "thunk" and the newest windshield provides superior road noise elimination. When you drive the 2013 Civic you definitely get the impression of a much more luxurious vehicle, it makes all other cars in its class pale when driving on noisy Canadian roadways. The seating is comfortable with a much softer touch fabric that hugs you for a secure feeling ride. While the dash has only subtle changes, the one change you will notice is the better fit and finish giving the car better refinement and more expensive looking options. The integration of Bluetooth, heated seats, and other techie goodies are available on this latest Civic.
There were no negative comments about the engine power, the handling or performance of the 2012 Civic, so Honda wisely left it alone in the re-do. It is still just as powerful and has all the fuel efficiency we have come to expect of the Honda Civic. The one noted change was to larger tires on some models changing the handling. Other than that, the Civic continues to out-perform all other cars in its class and is still the number one selling car in Canada, 14 years and counting!!
So while the Civic is still the car of choice for the wise consumers in Canada, this latest upgrade is more refined and mature than all the other predecessors. You'll find this car is much more than you would expect when compared to its competitors. But really, testing driving one is the only way you will ever know!
